This application called for combining the overhead free flowing magnetic arms to a propane container. The plant uses the magnets to pick up the containers so that the propane tanks can be heat treated, painted, and dried as they travel through the automation process. Sometimes there will be an empty pocket in the magnet arms. Before the Morrison system was implemented, the propane tanks would fall off the edge of the conveyor and create a lot of wasted product, as well as creating a safety hazard. The Morrison system has a sensor to detect all of the swinging arms and if there are any empty pockets the bottom timing screw indexes so propane tanks are not fed off the edge. The video highlights the extent that Morrison goes into for the testing process. The frame that is in the video is a temporary setup strictly for testing in Morrison’s facility.
