Here we are pouring Steel Fibre concrete in our shed at Brisbane on our Show day. The concrete was supplied by Boral Concrete (who also sponsored the event) at 40mpa with 20mm aggregate and steel fibre. The steel fibre was supplied by Propex Brisbane (who also sponsored the event) which was Novocon FE1050. Using the steel fibre allowed for a very quick preparation for the slab. I would highly recommend the use of steel fibre as it cuts down in placining steel mesh and chairs which is all labour costs and can be a trip hazard. It also allowed us to use a Somero Laser Screed which was supplied and operated by QR Conrete Brisbane (who also sponsored the event). You will notice how few people are working in placing the concrete and the speed of the Laser Screed. Using this system saved us time (which is also money) and gave us a very professional fininsh without any hollows in the slab. If you were doing any large slabs you would have to ask yourself why you should not use steel fibre and the laser screed. This type of system using a Telebelt can achieve 275m3 of concrete per hour. On the day were emptying 1 truck every 2.5 minutes and the concreters were keeping up!
