This video demonstrates the conveyor solution provided for a tire recycling facility, which accepts used and scrap tires. Our customer was looking for a way to improve efficiency in their tire sorting and recycling process. Specifically, they wanted to increase the throughput without adding more personnel. The new system needed be durable and easy to maintain while handling thousands of tires a day.
PACLINE engineers developed and tested a dumping station with custom carriers designed to handle the specified tire size and weight. As tires are sorted and then placed onto the carriers, they are transported using the PAC-MAX conveyor to the dumping area. The tapered release mechanism within the PAC-MAX™ system, seen here, allows for the tires to be automatically unloaded when they reach a tipping ramp located over the tire shredder.
The PAC-MAX™ heavy duty enclosed track conveyor was recommended as it offered several important benefits over the typical I-Beam conveyor. The enclosed track design protects workers from possible pinch points and also prevents contaminants from getting to the chain, thus reducing maintenance costs and prolonging the chain life. Also, the PAC-MAX™ has the ability to handle the tight vertical curves necessary for the tire recycling facility.
