This build has been a two month process, it is finally nearing completion. $95 for all the materials, $20 for the electric motor. If you have any questions about the homemade 2×72 sander/grinder please ask. I am happy how it turned out, the tracking is perfect, I was very surprised. Here is a short list of the materials:
$26 – Steel tubing and tool rest.
$21 – 4 longboard wheels and 8 bearings off of amazon.
$16 – 30LB gas piston
$10 – Threaded rod, nuts, bolts and washers.
$8 – Plywood
$6 – Welding rods
Other things you’ll need.
$20 – Sanding belts
$20 – Motor, got very lucky, got it from an Amish guy. Which is a great place to look since they buy machinery but do NOT use electricity. You will pay $100 or more for a decent motor usually.
Next video I will add the finishing touches like a switch and a shroud for the motor and pulley.
