Hughes Equipment Flume Washer with Green Beans

In a typical application, the Flume Washer is implemented shortly after the product is initially received in order to eliminate heavy debris such as rocks and metal from the product line as well as to give the product an initial wash. The Flume Washer can be used on any number of products including beans, root crops, leafy vegetables and citrus fruits.

Product is conveyed into the infeed end of the washer and is immediately agitated using the special header system. As the product flows down the trough this turbulence causes the product to rub together for an initial washing and dirt removal. All heavy debris falls to the bottom of the washer where a backwards flowing mesh belt carries it up and out of the product flow for disposal. At the discharge end of the conveyor sits a short resistor wall to make sure no debris flows out with the product. The product discharges into an optional dewatering reel where further product-to-product contact increases cleanliness. Underneath the dewatering reel sits an optional water reservoir where sediment is allowed to settle and the water is ready for recycling, creating a self contained water system.
